Intro to Sewing - The Tote Bag
Learn to Sew with a Machine!
This course starts from the very beginning. Do you have a machine sitting in your closet you've been meaning to use? Afraid to touch it? We can fix that! We like to teach you on your machine so you're comfortable when you get home and sew on your own.
What You'll Need:
- Your sewing machine
- If you don't have a machine, we have 2 that can be borrowed for class. Please email us ahead of class
- If you're not sure if your machine is in working order, bring it by the shop a day or so ahead of class and we can check together.
- Thread - Available for purchase if you don't have any.
- A Can Do Attitude!
- Optional: An Iron on Patch
What we provide:
- Canvas already cut to size with finished edges
- Iron on Patches
Course Outline:
- Basic Sewing Terms
- Parts of the machine
- Parts of your sewing
- Threading your Machine
- Sewing!
- Sew up the sides
- Sew the bottom corners
- Make the handles
- Attach the handles
- Accessorize!
- We have a number of iron on patches to add to your bag, but feel free to bring your own if you like.
